Julies dogs in June 2008
Success story of "Sofa"

On our first day, we drove the way to Jesolo, eastern of Venice.
It was rainy and windy but still very nice, as we had the beach, very good
restaurants and gambling  houses next to our hotel.

Sofa was enjoying the rar sun on the balcony.
Something familiar from home ...

Venice was not only "on" water, it was partly under water as well.

 Our ferry
We had a double room ...

... and sofa her own house in the "dog village".
But she didn't liked it that much.
She prefered to sit with us on the deck

Igoumenisa

 Arrived in Greece,
we found a perfect place for us to camp
And such a beautiful facility.

On the next day, we discovered the neighbourhood.
Nice beaches ...
Holger overindulged an old habit :
Looking for fossils

The typical footprint of Sofa :
With a missing claw
Yeah - that's waht I call holiday !
nice views ...

Next to the Ocean, a fresh water pond

Oh, look, what's in there ...
a lot of tadpoles

Ah, and here in their next phase of life

Driving can be very dangerouse in Greece.
All of a sudden, there are cows, sheeps or dogs on the road.

They are living free in the hills.
Only dogs are watching them.
On the first view, it looks like, a raven sits on the chimney.
But its only the chimney cover

Starting the way from west to east, you can see the "fresh scar" of the motorway in the mountains

Next bigger city is Ioannina on the Pamvotida lake

There, we found nice things

and made some fun.
This is Metsovo, a town in the middle of the mountains

In the middle of our way, there is the monastery rocks Metéora
The first hermit establishs here in the 11th century.
Today, there are 24 monasteries, but only 6 are still inhabited.

Metéora is on the world heritage list

Varlaam
Agios Nikolaou

Metamorfosis

The city "Meteora"
 Agia Triada

poppy fields

Finally, we arrived in Kalandra, where I helped Julie with her dog shelter for a week.

Gemma, Abby, Marcy and Jimmy playing

Holger enjoyed the sun in the meanwhile
- maybe too much ;-)
Sofa was almost every time with me,
but also enjoyed the sun as much as she could

Above our appartment door, we had a nice swallow nest
Hermes, the dog of Manuelas parents in law,
where we had our appartment

A dead praying mantis.
Eaten by ants within 2 hours

The "monster" room !
This (and all other rooms) has to be cleaned twice a day
The older monsters in their room outside.

Celina and Ben, Julies own dog

Jimmy, Echo, Gemma and Abby love their blankets ....

Love affairs : Echo and Dana (Julies own dogs)
and Xenia and Jimmy ;-)

On Wednesday, Mario and Julie invited for a barbecue

The guests were multicultural

The next morning, the dogs were already waiting ...
.. to play with us. Unfortunately,
their claws hurt a lot, when they are younger
(Anthony, Julies son, makes this experiences here)

The three youngest are two brothers and a female dog,
who is the only survivor of her family.
But still here, she has to prevails herself.

On one evening, we took Bella for a walk to the beach.
It was he first experience with a leash.
She did a great job and enjoyed the water

She accompanies Holger for a walk

That impressed Holger
and made Sofa jealous.

Good bye picture with Julie and Sofa
A Stary dog in Skala Fourkas,
where we ate our last dinner.

At that evening, we also visited Sofa home town
Mola Kaliva
A lizard

The way back on the ferry : No stairs for Sofa
but again her own house ...

We arrived in Venice again and drove directly the way back to Munich
